“I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
It is so easy to read these words from Matthew 28:20 and overlook what Jesus is saying. But when you hit the brake and really take time to meditate on it, these words are truly life changing!
Jesus is literally saying that He is WITH US now, meaning right now (!) through the Holy Spirit. The wind blows through the trees and we can’t see it, but we see the effects in the rustling of leaves. In the same way, the invisible presence of God hovers over and within our lives. The Father of the heavenly lights (James 1:17) is not only beyond the stars but with us in our daily walk as the Father of all compassion (2 Cor 1:3). That is not a thought but a reality.
So when we say, ‘Jesus is standing right next to you’ – it means He really is! Jesus himself said, ‘God is Spirit’ (John 4:24). An atheist may respond sarcastically, ‘so is the tooth fairy’ but then again, ‘the natural man understands not the things of the Spirit of God’ (1 Cor 2:14). The reality of Jesus is only spiritually discerned whilst being fact-checked by that great library of truth books we call the Bible.
If there’s one thought to ponder today, consider this: Jesus himself said He is always with us, every day and to the end of time!
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.’ (Revelation 22:13)
